Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give Celebrates and Gives Thanks to Fathers on Father's Day

BELMONT, Mich. - This Father’s Day weekend, the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give draws thousands of fans to Blythefield Country Club. Among them are fathers and families who say the tournament has become an annual tradition. While world-class golf is the main attraction, many dads return year after year for more than just the competition.
What keeps fathers coming back year after year?
For Ryan Sabin who attends with his daughters, Evelyn and Charlotte, it’s all about tradition.
“This is tradition. We come every year. We come on Saturday, and we had come on Father’s Day before, but we made it a tradition to come every Saturday,” said Sabin. “It’s just fun to be on the golf course with them and enjoy the game, enjoying family. We have my brother and my sister-in-law here with their kids, too. So, just great to be out. Nice day. And just have your time watching golf.”
Another father, Kyle, say this is his family’s third straight year attending.
“This is our 3rd year in a row that we’ve been to [the Meijer LPGA Classic]. With all the kids’ stuff going on and good golf, we always like to come back. And it’s close by too.”
For other families, the event offers a chance to spend quality time together. Ken Lawless and his son, John Lawless, share how much this weekend and golf tournament means to their family.
“I’m with my son and two grandchildren, and my wife and daughter in law. That’s kind of how it’s been,” Ken commented. “Just started doing this a year or so ago. This is just as good of an excuse to get together and celebrate Father’s Day together.”
It’s more than watching world-class competition for Lawless. To be able to spend Father’s Day weekend with grandkids and whole family, he says, “Super, it’s relaxing, and just a lot of good fun, good food, good golf, good companions.”
With championship golf, family-friendly activities, and Father’s Day celebrations throughout the weekend the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give is a must attend destination for families looking to create memories and enjoy a day.
To celebrate Father’s Day, on Championship Sunday, the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give welcomes all fathers to the final round with a complimentary general admission grounds ticket. A simple token of thanks from the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give to all of the dads out there for everything they do.
